A Haiku for conservation
Gas stinks. Costs arise.
My mileage is rotton too.
Got a bike? Ride it!

It's all amusing... where friends, family and visitors get up-to-date news, information and comments from Padre, Sidetrack, Beaner, Peanut, Chalupa and Big Dawg. Go F*U*N or go home!

Livin' Large
While last weeks mileage was a pathetic 2, this beast was puttin' on the miles between the tree and his newly found chache of food. As HRB says... "that squirrel has all day to think of a way to get to the food, while you only spend a few minutes figuring out how to stop him".
Saddly, we now know who is smarter AND has more hair!

Remember Playing This?
King of the Mountain before the school bus arrives. You miss the bus stop in the morning, and you miss a lot! From the left it looks like, Boots, Hallie?, Emily, Maheine, some kid, Lance, JJ (the reigning King) and Chalupa. This group is about six shy of the regular morning chaos.
Oh yeah, and last week's mileage (better late than never)
42.25 (YTD 236)
Highlights were a good 12 miler (same route I bonked on the week prior) and a couple of 10's. in 50 degree temps.

March Madness?
It was exactly one year ago today that we spent our first full day in Monkey Doo. We had a wrecked van in the driveway and an unfinished basement with many boxes, three uneasy girls and an uncertain future. Today... we have a new van; a finished basement; four happy kids; two content parents; snow, snow and more snow. Ike is modeling his new sled from X-mas (thank you again Gumma and Gumpa), and Belly Bean gave Boots a facial. Lovely! March Maddness is right!
Snow Day
Curtains or not for Mt. Kato, Old Man Winter hath wrought his flurry. 7 - 10 inches of misery expected today. It's the really wet and heavy stuff. We can't get cars out of the driveway. When we tried, we got 6 feet into the street and stalled out. It took us 20 minutes to get the car back into the driveway. It's a beautiful thing.
Kids are off school. Side Track and I will work from home.

Curtains for Kato
The days for "Mt." Kato's ski season are melting away. Soon the slopes will be green and the bike trail contigency will return for a summer of bumps, hills, bruises, hills, twists, turns, hills, roots, mud and more hills. And somewhere amongst this chaos of trail raging cyclists will a scawny, knob kneed runner who trains with a purpose and a long distance in mind.

Year's First Bonk
Of note: Last week witnessed an uptick in mileage, but regretfully, a price was paid during the weekly long run. I initially thought my endorphins were firing hard, when I began to experience a stumbling stride, tunnel vision, woozy stomach, ringing ears, and general dizziness. Of all the bonks I've had, this was certainly one of them.
