Heartland U14 Girls Champs!

Here we see the Blizzards after freezing-out all opponents to become this year's Heartland Soccer Tournament Champions. We see Peanut on the far right. Congratulations ISC ladies!

West High Homecoming!

Well, the football game was Friday night and West High won at home for the first time since 2006! A good omen indeed. The Homecoming Dance was Saturday night, and Ellie attended with four of her girlfriends (BFsFL - I think that's what they call them). Anyway her are some pics from to kick off that momentous evening.
Ya gotta love the "Charlie's Angels" pose (above)!
From the Left: Amrika, Beaner, Hannah, Sweet Pea, and Megan.

Soccer is an Exhausting Sport

Anyone who says soccer is NOT a tiring sport,
has got another thing coming.
Here we see Peanut, crapped out and snoozing on her way home from two big matches in Muscatine, IA. She is out cold on an otherwise HOT Sept. afternoon.

When We Aren't Working

ISC Soccer Fall 2009.

This is a big part of our lives right now. We thoroughly enjoy all the players, parents and most of the games (especially the games we win). It's a really terric thing to sit back and enjoy while we can. In a few more years... it'll be a memory and we will wonder where it all went. So for now, it's all Blizzards (Peanut) and Magic (Chalupa) and soon, Lightening (Big Dawg).

Better Than Last Year

West High put on another display of ineptitude on Friday night. This time they lost in overtime to yet another Cedar Rapids team. They were actually winning at half-time but they allowed Washington to catch up and tie the game in the fourth. Then with time running out, Washington missed a chance at a winning field goal throwing the game into overtime. West squandered three downs and settled for a nothing when the field goal attempt was botched. Washington marched into the end zone in two plays.

On a positive note, West did win last weekend for the first time in more than a year. They head over to Bates field (City High) with an 1-2 record to face one of the top HS quarterbacks in nation... A.J. Derby. They will need more than luck to walk to beat the Little Hawks. We'll see.

Dessert!

Chocolate Covered Strawberry's. Ahhhhhh!

Chalupa has learned how to properly melt chocolate (double boiler) and create all sorts of Fondu's. She and Sidetrack blasted through a quart (or more?) of strawberry's testing Chalupa's chocolate concoction. I believe this new talent will serve her, and the rest of her friends and family well. YUM!

One Last Summer Stop at Danes

This ain't no "Whippy Dip", but it may be the next best thing. Dane's Dairy is Iowa Cities answer for the early evening ice cream cravings. If you look at this photo carefully, you can see Beaner, Peanut huddling with Chalupa, Sidetrack and Big Dawg getting ready to place their final order for the summer. [sigh]
I should also add that we know one of the managers for this ice cream feeding hole. He is none other than IG, the Intellectual Giant. Alas, he has retired his apron to return to Northern Iowa and raise the IQ for the Cedar Falls community. Such a charitable guy!

21st Anniversary

21 years, 11 moves (5 houses, 6 rentals), 7 cars, 4 kids, 3 dogs (one has since passed), 1 cat, countless fish (pesky bastards), 18 (?) substancial career moves, a few heart aches, gazillion's of laughter, and the rest of our lives to share our continued friendship and love. What a blast!

The flowers to the right were a gift from J.A. Mandy (Buzz Daddy's Godmother and our dearest family friend and matriarch).

Great to be a Hawkeye

On the way to Kinnick Stadium. Hawkeye get ready to square off against the Division II powerhouse... Northern Iowa Panthers.
Scott, Bones, Addison, and Buzz Daddy enjoy the GREAT Iowa weather from their vantage on top of a nearby parking ramp.
Buzz and Scott share a laugh prior to the game. We met 29 years ago at a dorm just 2 blocks away. Little did we know that we'd still be tailgating this many years later.
The "arial" view just outside of Kinnick Stadium. The Hawkeye's squeaked out a victory by blocking two field goal attempts in the final seven seconds of play. Whew. Dodged that bullet. Next we face the Iowa State Cyclones, in Ames. It may not be pretty. We'll See. Go Hawks!
